 inboard mud motor
Hey guys new member here from wisconsin. I am not by any means a mud motor expert but recently came across this page while researching an idea of mine. I was thinking about building an inboard mud boat. I know some of you guys here have built them and I was wondering the pros / cons of these boats compared to an outboard mud motor. Do any companies make inboard boats you can buy set up? I also was wondering what kind of steering mechanism you think would work best? I plan on building one regardless just for fun! Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

 Re: inboard mud motor
search user posts for "forever draggin" and inboard. He built a nice one and would be the one to ask.

 Re: inboard mud motor
If you have any type of hard bottom, or rocks, an inboard mudboat is not for you. Over here is south Louisiana, lots of people run them. Comfortable to ride, most have reverse too.
Steering is easy to set up.
Forever Draggin made a nice inboard also

 Re: inboard mud motor
I don't think I've ever ridden anywhere up here where I would feel comfortable running an inboard. I'm always hitting shit.

 Re: inboard mud motor
Hey guys thanks for the responses. I am living in Milwaukee but would be using this boat to duck hunt around the fox lake area. I saw the boat forever draggin built however i have a different vision. looks like he used a rudder to steer his boat? I would like to put a U-joint outside of the boat. I would then attach the shaft to some type of shock allowing the staft that remains in plane with the prop to travel up and down in case of impact with a rock or stump. I would then also steer using a hydraulic system.
