I just received my copperhead 18 HP and don't know if I should just tighten the clamp bolts or should I also drill through the transom for permanent mount. Also, what's the best fuel line set up? Do i need an inline bulb pump like most outboards? I have about a 7 foot long line and it seems like its not getting enough fuel sometimes. |

If it were me, I would drill and bolt once your totally satisfied with the motor's seat on the transon. I say that because sometimes you have to shift the motor over a tad to reduce torque on the tiller. But eventually, you should bolt it in place. Unless you have an electric fuel pump, you're gonna need a primer bulb to get fuel to the carb. Length of hose will depend on where you put your tank. Mine (like most mudders) is up front to help with weight displacement, so I have 18 feet of line ran down the side of the boat. Wherever you decide to locate the tank, make sure your line isnt being pinched and isnt sucking air from anywhere. If your getting air in your fuel line, you're losing your prime, which could be while your motor seems starved for gas at times. Check all of your fittings, including the tank. |
