I have a 2007 36 pro drive and I can hold the lower unit stationary and grab the tiller handle and move the whole motor but the lower unit stay on place. Any ideas? |

I have some small movement from the hole power and lower end wiggling in the main housing. I have an 09 .. |

Man some folks are quick to judge... It could be a number of things but it looks like he's saying side to side not the "worn out bushing wobble" where it looks like a bobble head back there when on step. If it is a manual reverse (which I assume due to the year), the pin or the hole in the reverse plate the locking pin goes in may have wear on it. If it has the hydro reverse, the reverse gear is what holds it and the teeth can get wear on them which will create some slack and cause side to side movement. You can adjust it and get some play out of it by jumping a tooth. These are the two things that come into play for side to side slack, either way, put it in reverse and see if you still have play... The up and down all around wobble is either a dry tower that needs grease or worn out bushings and in many cases the bushing will be fine but the aluminum on the lower units shaft that the bushing ride on will have wear on it. In either case, you can pump it tight with grease to buy some time or change out the bushings but if the aluminum is worn, that gets pricey. However, a little play is expected, the tolerances are large so it really depends on how much movement you're talking about here. |

Mine looks like its almost barely attached when running a bad chop! Let ProDrive check it out if it really concerns you. Slack is normal, play (bout 1") between powerhead and lower is normal. Bushings get a little wear and it looks worse than it is. If there's a wink of play in the pins it translates into a lot more when comparing it between tiller and prop... Video? |
