Figure out what u want, add it up, whatever the tax would be, that is your savings.

"Tax-free" sales always crack me up. Most sales taxes here are in the 6-7% range. That's what you save. Pretty measly sale if you ask me but it amazes me how the marketing of not paying taxes works on the consumer. There's something about not giving money to Uncle Sam that drives people to buy. The taxes are still being paid though. It's just the retailer who is taking the 6-7% hit on the merchandise and paying Uncle Sam for you.

So if u are going to buy a boat anyway , u don't think it makes sense to plan your purchase on the tax free weekend. U would rather pay an extra $1200 or $1300.

I was aware of having to pay in texas when applying for titles. Seems it's only of benefit if you live in LA.

I don't know how they write the paperwork. If it's a statewide thing, it probably doesn't have any taxes on it. If it's a gatortail thing, I've seen where some places say they'll save you the taxes and they just discount the merchandise to cover the cost, so the receipt actually still shows taxes on it. I don't know how it's written up, but would def be worth a call if you're in the market for a new motor...
