Has anyone tried painting fastgrass mats to match local environment? I have dyed and tried the raffia,,fades and haven't been able to get colors to match. If you have painted them, will it stay on very long? |

I always paint my grass I hunt South Louisiana and we still have a good bit of green in the winter I usually do one side greener than the other in case my surroundings are different |

It has held up for me pretty good however I do keep my boat covered. |

Here in Florida, there's a lot of green, especially hunting in bulrush early in the season. I went and collected a few and brought them to Lowe's to get them color-matched. I hit them with a paint sprayer. Here are my fastgrass mats: |

Those look pretty good. How do you keep the paint from flaking off when the grass flexes though? |

I don't really have a lot flake off. I don't run with my mats like that, I roll them up and put them in decoy bags. Each of my mats is 8' long and I clip them on the sides of my boat when I set up. A little comes off as the season progresses but that's perfect for me because the bulrush gets a little more yellow/brown to it as the season goes on where I hunt. |

I painted all of the grass on my boat last year. Held up great and it took a beating. The water base paint doesn't get hard, it stays flexible. Some did start peeling toward the end, but it needed to by that time anyway. |
