Hey, I'm looking to build a mud motor and need help/advice on designs and details, Preference on parts, and names to stay away from and such. Its for a 12 foot john boat. I don't have a preference on surface drive or on long tail, but if you do i would like to hear why. Thanks. |

I just started touching my toes in the water with all this stuff but buy my thinking, after i finished a surface drive build prototype, bought multiple props and belt drives to test, broken parts i didn't make right and still not getting what i want, you could just buy a copperhead and have them put a clone motor on it for you so you can get parts when it breaks for about the same money and less aggravation. So i nixed that idea and saving up for a copperhead. Home build longtail seems to be more doable and less to mess up. |

X2 of you are set on building a mudmotor it would be way easier to build a longtail. If you want a good cheap engine look at predator engines. If you want a good more expensive try honda or briggs. In the end there really arent any "bad" motor brands Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
