Post Shallow Water Boat Association: Poll
This is a poll to get everyone's opinion on whether the SWBA should be consumer or manufacturer based or both. Manufacturers participation would include financial sponsorship. A consumer based entity would be by membership dues and donations. The mission must be unified. The common goal is most certainly the free recreational and responsible use of mudmotors. I would like manufacturers to weigh in on this discussion, as well. When you vote please make a few comments about why.

Thanks

It needs to be both. Manufacture based just makes things look better because you have the larger group of support with more money flowing in and people notice it. Problem is they rarely get things done. Without having it consumer based it will be yet another association that does absolutely nothing. Manufactures can push their agendas down peoples throats all they want, but without the people actually doing something nothing gets done. Also with it being consumer based a lot of people that are on the edge of deciding whether to join or not will go ahead and join because neighbors and friends are doing it. The 'follow the herd" mentality will make a lot of people do things they wouldn't normally do such as join and participate in the SWBA. Or thats my 2 cents on the subject at least.

No separation... Look at what is going on with those "endangered" red snapper... We have Recreational vs. Commercial and it's not good. Should be a unified effort & front.

Agreed. The manufacturers backing give it legitimacy. The consumers will drive the effort. We just need people to get over the DGuidry thing and he needs to take the high road. This can be a success if we put everyone's differences aside and guys buy into this association.

I think it would have to be both as well. It would say a lot to have the companies that manufacture the boats and motors on board with the cause.

Both, being that both consumers and manufacturers will be affected by any legislative BS, both need to be represented here, and both need to be working together with a common goal in mind.

I should get a royalty off this but beings I'm a billionaire I let this secret out.

Offer a mandatory 30$ 30 minute course on every mm purchase on protecting wetlands. I understand it will go over 0.5 to 0.75 of their heads and they will get nothing out of it , but it will make some think twice about doing dunbshit.

My question is, will this association cover all 50 states similar to the NRA or will this just be for the south?

Once we are established, we should set up some type of quick response email chain to notify the members of proposed legislation/ordinances detrimental to our cause and then overwhelm them with emails, calls, letters, etc. like we did with the Plaquemines Parish battle. We should keep the membership informed with an email newsletter, promote goodwill efforts such as trash rodeos and fishing rodeos and education. There should be pamphlets given out with each sale of new MM.s that educate, promote responsible use and solicit new membership.

We need to have a face to face meeting. I have found that when we can do that, people tend to respond with some work.

It's the same stupid kids that have snorkels on their ATVs and tear up their shit and have daddy pay for the repairs. They piss people off by riding all night and tearing up the land and same with the MM owning tools that jump shit, tear up the land and scout ducks by jumping them up all day.

Keep em coming. I'll start sending everyone emails tonight to download Skype then when everyone gets it I'll send out another email with instructions how to use the conference call function. It's free just gotta make an account. You can do it on any device. Phone tablet p.c. etc...

25 people for an audio conference call. 10 for video. Is that adequate or do I need to find another software... I'm gonna say 25/10 is plenty for now
