Floral City Airboat here in Florida carries the FS.

I prefer it to ply due to weight & it's easily touched up.

You can expect a gain of 1-2 mph after the application.

The charge is 22.50 a foot to spray your boat, plus the cost of the frog spit. And yes its the real frog spit.

so an 18 foot boat comes in close to 600, but its well worth every dollar spent. The bottom of my boat is smooth as glass.

Will it come off if I take it across or beach it on a sand bar? How durable is it? I'll have to do some research on places here in TX or maybe it will give me another excuse to head to LA for a few days

The contact for the frog spit is Dusty_Dog_A shoot him a PM. The company is a local ship yard called washburn marine. You WILL HAVE TO REMOVE YOUR MOTOR OR ANYTHING OUT OF YOUR BOAT. They lift it off the trailer and tape it off and spray it.

I winch mine over levees topped with marl & other than a few scratches from a large shell, I haven't re-done mine in (10) ten years.

As far as it chipping, that was the old formula. The newer stuff is softer & slipperer than the old stuff.

For you guys that want to do-it-yourselves, it's a piece of cake & it will only cost you around $100.00 bucks including shipping & a roller.

Sure, the $600.00 dollar spray-on job looks nice but there's no advantage other than it looks nice.

Where most goof up is they don't go far enoungh up the side of the hull, which creates drag.

1/3 of the way up is perfect!!!

1) Strip the hull to bare metal with a belt sander.

2) Clean with acetone

3) Run a (blue) tape line

4) Mix only (1) one qt @ a time!!!

5) Start @ the bow using the sponge type roller, applying only (2) two feet @ a time worked across, not lengthwise.

6) Don't be afraid to put it on thick!!!

7) Remove tape asap!!!

Note: (1) one gallon of FS will cover a 18x44 GD with (2) two coats.

can you put it on without flipping the boat over? CCs are not as easy to flip as a tiller hull. will it bond/ hold (whatever) to the boat just lifted and not flipped?

Due to the set-upset of the product, it just works out better rolling it on in (2) two foot sections.

Alway we've found out (we've applied it on over 50 boats over the years) that if to do it in long coats from bow to stern that if it does chip, it peeled the length of the bottom.

Doing it in (2) two foot sections places like an invisable seam & the chip/peel stops.

It's really a piece of cake to put on!!!

I am really interested in putting FS on my boat. I run hard sandy bottom most of the time. Will it help in pushing off of sand bars, etc.? Does it give a little protection against hooks?

Outlaw,

Who really cares what the bottom of your duck rig looks like as long as the product works.

Will you see roller marks?

Yep!!!

Will you see heavy spots?

Yep!!!

Do you lay on your back looking up & your rig saying to yourself, "boy that FS sure does look purtty!!!

Well, I know I don't!!!

Does rolling effect the performance of the product?

Absolutely not!!!

Even if you roll (2) two gallons (which in my experience is to thick & leads to chipping), you still are saving $400.00 bucks by doing it yourself.

I even put it on the bottom of my flats boat this season & poling over the grass flats is a breeze.

You have to look @ FS like bottom paint on an a boat that sits in the water all year.

It's made to wear off!!!

But if you want to spend $600.00 bucks on a job you can do yourself for $100.00, it ain't my money!!! :D

FS works in all conditions!!!

The first time you touch it after it dries it feels like you have slime on your hand that won't come off.

And no matter how hard you wipe, it still feels like it won't come off!!!

Hmmm im kinda interested in this especially for 100 bucks not much to loose. Can you fill in hooks? that would be my main concern the bottom of my boat is really hooked up. If It would take care of that i might have to give it a try after the seasons over.

Anyone have experience compairing the frog spit to steelflex? The Steel Flex folks have a filler that goes on before coating to fill hooks.

I personally have not had great luck with the SF.

It's as tough as nails but sets up rock hard & seems prone to chipping.

You don't have to but you'll find that it works better.

We figure out where the boat sit in the water then go up (2) two inches.

If it's sprayable then a $20 gravity feed gun from Harbor Freight would do it so forget that $600 spray job.
