I've sprayed that Cabelas floor stuff in a popcorn sprayer. Worked fine.

DO you guys know if FS will work on a crimped hull?

Post subject:  Re: frog spit

i hope so bc i have a crimped hull and i figured fs was cheaper than buying a slick bottom

Post subject:  Re: frog spit

Anything that makes your hull slicker should help it slide over stuff easier. It will not however compensate for the crimps hanging you up.

I understand that the crimps will drag a little more than the slick bottoms. I would love to have one of those types of boats but I'm mudd'n on a budget>

It should help some. I have a flat bottom and still plan to put it on mine one day. Go for it, you have nothing to loose.

I put on the SF once and it seemed to work good. Slick as snot.

Are you guys saying that the FS doesnt dry as hard as SF. It has a spungy texture?

Post subject:  Re: frog spit

I've done SF a few times already, but never FS. Can't see how one would perform any better than da other.... they're both slick as hell. Longevity may be different... my steelflex has always chipped off, but mainly from the chain I drag during crawfish season that's constantly beating against da bottom of my hull.

It will help in veggies, stumps, & logs.

It will slide right off da trailer if u unhook it.

It will not go any faster. Slicker does not equal faster.... no matter how hard you would like to believe it does. If u gained speed it was from filling in a hook or sumthin else dat was slowin u down.... but not from bein slick. So if u got a f'd up hull that has a lot of drag it could reduce that drag and u may pick up some speed, but it would be marginal. If u got a straight hull that's as fast as it could already possibly be.... it'll prolly slow you down.

It does wear down over time and will need to be re-applied..... especially if you use it.

What u draggin a chain for?

Author:  stumpgrinder [ Thu Dec 17, 2009 10:09 am ]
Post subject:  Re: frog spit

It's about 16' of heavy ass loggin chain that I drag from da bow...... helps stop you then holds you in place and keeps u from driftin around while ur raisin traps, baitin, and puttin em back down. kinda like draggin an anchor that don't get hung up. when u gotta stop and do that 300+ times a day... it makes life better.

u can see da chain in dis pic.... I was runnin sum test traps in a new area when I shot dis 350+ lb. hog. ran da chain under my center cross brace and then back forward, ran my bow winch line through da last link of da chain like a snatchblock, and winched da hog up da side of my skiff and rolled his ass in. lol

How does FS come? Is it a 2 part mixture? How about colors?

Author:  bbb [ Thu Dec 17, 2009 4:18 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: frog spit

I bought the 2 part epoxy, Steel Flex and put it on mine right before the season.
It was some work as my boat already had a slick coat on the bottom that was chewed to pieces by oyster bars

Cleaned off and prepped

Taped off and applied

Close up. It lumped up while being rolled on, but I wiped it with a wet sponge and it smoothed out as it dried.

I took the boat to the coast last weekend and have several scrapes on the bottom where the oyster bar ate it up. If you are around a lot of oysters/rocks, save your time and money.

If you mainly run vegetation, put it on.

Its real cool to pull up to the landing, barely get the trailer tires wet and launch the boat just by unhooking it.

I don't care what ya'll say spraying it on it way better than rolling. you wanna roll eat a disco biscuit!!! If you want your boat done right bring it to dusty and darby!!!!!!!! It will be slicker' en' owl sh!t!!!!!!!

CARRY ON!!
