 Aluminum Experts Help
How would .100 compare to .125? Both out of 5086. I know .125 will be heavier. But overall durability, weight, etc....any info would be appreciated.

 Re: Aluminum Experts Help
Comparing two different boats....would mainly be used in sloughs with cattails with some mud flats then also in a silt/sand river bottom. We don't have a ton of submerged logs or anything but I don't want something that can't take a little abuse either.

 Re: Aluminum Experts Help
Get the .125. I have .100 and it's not enough weight on the front end. Also make sure you get the bracing that goes the whole length of the boat. If you want speed and handling, havoc makes a great .100 boat. If you want a tank there's several that make a .125 boat that's tough and will handle abuse.

 Re: Aluminum Experts Help
Yes they do and if you ask I'm sure you can have them add a couple extra for more strength on the bottom. But if you are gonna be running stumps I'd say go heavier like .125 or .190. Also definitely don't go less than 17ft with a 35 it's better to go 18 if you can afford to. I went 1648 and mine isn't right

 Re: Aluminum Experts Help
17 gives you the length and extra weight up front to help keep the back end from sitting too low in the water and the wider you go the better 48 is barely wide enough to float the monster you'll be putting on the boat

 Re: Aluminum Experts Help
If you get a thin hull, the Sandy bottoms will "sand" the bottom of your hull thus making it paper thin. Go .125

 Re: Aluminum Experts Help
.100 is what regular john boats are made with! There's a reason mud motor hills are .125!!!
