Just to pick up where we left off on the Dean banned thread.... MMT is a double edged sword to launch/promote/host some sort of MM organization. Everything BSH says is true. But, the flip side of it is, this would also be the face of the organization....would you really want everybody's dirty laundry representing an organization that is supposed to be facing off against government officials, other organizations....say, CCA, DU, Delta Waterfowl, Save the Coastline, the Kayakers, the landowners like Continental Land & Fur...and pick any number of tree hugging organizations out there. No, any MM organization needs to have their own, independent website, their own WELL MODERATED forum and topic areas to support their own agenda. MMT nor any of the other current MM forum sites need to be the face of a MM organization. It would be the laughing stock of organized associations. Not a single group, supporting or opposing, would give you a second look. One visit here would give them all the ammunition anybody would need to ban all mud motors forever. I will do what I can for with the time I have for the greater good. Since it seems like the big 4 MM manufacturers are not willing to stand this proposed organization up, we need to take matters into our own hands. Tony, if you could start up that forum and possibly design a logo, as you have mentioned before, that would be a great start. We need to get a handle on what DG has done so far and get some volunteers to help with specific tasks. I still feel that he should be involved. My original thoughts were to promote good will by conducting derelict crab trap rodeos or trash pick ups, create a pamphlet to be provided with each new sale of a MM providing education similar to "tread lightly" with ATV's and promoting our cause and membership applications, and create an online news letter for members. We somehow need to track any proposed negative MM legislation and possibly have a representative speak on our behalf at LADWF hearings for example. With an official response letter. These are just some things I've been thinking about but we need everyone's input and help. If we don't do something soon, the next Biloxi Marsh regs will end up in your duck/fishing spots. |

i like the idea behind this, but how do you make a parish or land owning organization take your opinion seriously without having some type of influence (political or monetary). i understand that a council member has to make their constituents happy and the SWBA could have some ground there. Some parishes are creating a type of coastal/wetlands conservation board that would have the greater good of the environment in mind and this is an appointed position so members do not vote based on political gain. |

I don't want for MMT to be the face of SWA but to be another way of getting word out to the involved people of our hobby. SWA needs its own website. But face it, this is where the players are to motivate the troops. Dean knows the law and has researched a lot of the land and state agencies deal. But i bet Shamu would do a great job of leading and work with Dean on the legal part. I am willing to help. We need all of us. |

Just because their sportsmen doesn't mean they are going to follow us over coastal conservation that's going to be the toughest battle to many tree huggers out there that don't won't us hunting or fishing anyway. |

If you decide to create a website and you need someone to do it I'll volunteer. I do them on the side and have all the software needed. Two that I manage: |
