I'm in the market for a mud boat, and need input on the differences between the godevil 37 and the prodrive 36 efi without the reverse. They are the most ideal for my limited budget. I really appreciate any advise or things to look out for. |

they are both 37 EFI's. I don't think it's worth it to buy a prodrive with no reverse. Both motors will be good for you. I'd personally go with prodrive, and the in the future you could add reverse. You will also have neutral on the prodrive. That comes stock. IMO, prodrive will be an easier motor to drive, in ever aspect of hunting/fishing. |

How is it easier to drive ? |

the weighted back Prodrive handles a lot better IMO. I've driven both for a while. I went from a PD to a GDSD then a PD again and I dont think I will want another GDSD cause its so hard to drive even with the slightest wind/current. When trimmed right the PD drove much easier. But, I rather the CC over any of them. |

I've never heard bad things about either brand. I almost purchased a PD but just prefer the instant reverse. If I didn't use reverse I would of got A GD. Thanks for answering was jw |

I think the GDSD takes more of a learning curve than a PD. The PD prob handles easier. The balanced engine of the GD suites me best by far and has my vote. |

I drove a PD when I was figuring out what I wanted to buy and it was not a good experience at all. I drove a GEN III 36hp on an 1848 X series hull. Not only was it slower than the speed of smell, it was trying to drag me out of the boat the whole time I was running it, the twist grip throttle was horrible probably because it was pulling me. I'm sure something was not right with that setup. I know there's no way they all can drive that poorly but after putting just 80ish hrs on my GDSD, I don't know if I can pay good money for something that doesn't drive well. You can literally run mine on step with two fingers on the tiller. The balanced frame is advantage and feels more natural after running a Longtail for a while. Lack of power trim isn't a disadvantage at all. I rarely ever adjust on my trim. It is run in the same spot taking off from a dig, all the way to wide open. The 36" drive is also nice to have when you need to reach something soft to put the prop in. With the PD, you'll be limited to whatever is right behind the boat which might be a tree or some other obstruction. It's entirely possible the one I drove wasn't set up right. But it had 14hrs on it and was purchased directly from PD, so who knows... -you may have an entirely different result, your best bet will be to get out and drive them and see what suits you and the conditions you most commonly operate in. |

I'm not sure about the hull im gona go with either yet. I'm starting to lean toward a godevil boat and motor. The price is right and everything I've heard is pretty good |

lots of fail in some of these replies. when u figure out what boat you want, go run it with whatever motor you think you want and make a decision. all dealers will do this for free and is the only way to know what it will do. all of the mudmotor companies build a boat that runs well with their brand of motor, might be something to consider before you go mismatch the boat/motor combo and then have poor performance. and, buying a prodrive without reverse is like buying a pickup truck without reverse. especially if buying new. that 500$ mistake is gonna hurt when u get planted in the bad stuff and can't backup. good luck with whatever you decide!!! |
