Post subject:  A new stereo thread PICS PLEASE

So I googled stereo and mudmotortalk and got a couple results but not many pics and old threads. So I am trying to figure out what kind of stereo setup to go with. I don't really want to spend the big $$ on a sound bar trying to stay at around or preferably under 200. Have been looking at two 6.5 tower speakers and using a gauge style head unit. I don't want something permanently mounted unless it's really out the way so I can take it out during season. What's everyone else doing. Btw I want loud so I can hear it over the motor when running. PICS PICS PICS too

I did a 8 inch 250 bazooka tube with a cheap BT head unit that has aux in, usb in, and rca in/out. Head unit is 4x40 I think and I can't hear it running but passengers can. I got around 350 in it. It sounds good at the sand bar.

If I did it again I would get the infinity head unit which I may still do and up grade the cheap-o speakers in the front also add an amp for the front speakers so I will be able to hear it over the motor. The only problem with better speakers is they have bigger magnets on the rear of the speaker and I don't have a lot of clearance in front of the gas tank.

I'm trying to figure out the best set up pro armor had a 4 4" speaker set up that is amplified and Bluetooth ready for like 399 I believe I may go that route I'll be running off my phone so a head unit would be good for use of audio settings other than that I don't need one

I have a bunch of crap on the shelf but I am going to install it this spring. I have a head unit but I am not sure if I am going to use it. I have a small 2 channel amp that has a Bluetooth adapter on it. I could use my phone as the controller. I originally wanted the head unit for my xm but I can stream that through my phone now. I bought 4 mid grade speakers as well. I have been waiting to finish my catwalks and then I am going to redo my boat swag.

I just ordered the bluecube BT amp and some 8" kicker speakers to replace my Sony 6.5" and my little Pyle amp. Still waiting in my bluecube to come in though. I will post pix when I'm done

I have a MB Quart marine 2 channel 180 watt amp and two alpine 7" subs mounted facing rear in my front deck, amp gets power to turn on from switch panel and running power comes from deep cycle up front, and it has a headphone jack ran to rear console as well as Bluetooth dongle added a couple months ago.

In my duck boat I have four 7.7 inch mtx marine coaxials powered by a 4 channel mtx marine amp. I also have a 10 inch mtx marine subwoofer in a pvc tube powered by an Alpine subwoofer amp. All of this runs through an adjustable passive equalizer with an external Jack that I plug my ipod into.

My flats boat has two JL Audio 7.7 marine coaxials powered by a 2 channel JL marine amp. It runs to an Audiopipe gauge style head unit.

My buddy has a pretty nice system in his duck boat. Two 8.8 JL coaxials, Two 7.7 JL separates, two 6.5 fusions, 10 imch subwoofer, polyplanar amp, fusion head unit.

Dear God IB i should be able to hear you here in SC with all that I was thinking about building a box with a head unit and amp with two bent tubes coming off the side and mounting a couple tower speakers on them. By the way my mind is always running figuring shit out so if it seems like I'm jumping around its because I work many things at once till i decide what I want

You ever Googled ice chest stereos? It kinda sounds like what you are wanting to build.

Yeah I know about them but don't want to use a cooler I want something that is easily pulled out of the boat so as to not get destroyed and just don't like the idea I saw that bluecube BT box Dilla was talking about its pretty neat it's self contained Bluetooth amp that only needs a power wire and no head unit I think it streams straight from the phone and I'm thinking about that in a box and two very loud tower speakers

I got one of these too. I used it in my old rig. I just don't like having more stuff in the floor but I keep it in the truck and we use it at the ballpark when we tailgate at my sons ball gamesImageUploadedByTapatalk1458660520.462370.jpg

I'm tellin you that amp looks awesome all you gotta do is hook up speakers and no head unit needed I'm ordering one and gonna build me a sweet little HO stereo

Post subject:  Re: A new stereo thread PICS PLEASE

Probably build a box with an 8" sub mount the amp inside the box with a tube on each side to mount tower speakers to wire it all internally that way I can take it out the boat during duck season just have a power and ground wire coming out to the battery

Post subject:  Re: A new stereo thread PICS PLEASE

I like how it says it has a max current draw of 7a. That means at 100% efficiency, it's capable of providing 84 watts. Take into account the amp is probably closer to 50% efficient, and has the bluetooth electronics running off the same power supply, that amp is likely only gonna give you about 10 watts per channel. You'd be just as well off, if not better, with a regular old headunit with bluetooth. Most of those are at least capable of 16-20 watts per channel.

"Max" power ratings are generally nothing more than an outright lie. I wouldn't buy anything that didn't give you an RMS rating, and even then, a lot of those are bogus. Buyer beware..

That'll be a heavy box! Can you not mount them in the boat like in a seat or the deck?
I was Jbl audio has good marine setups on amazon. In my wish list I have a 800w 4 channel jbl 2 6x9 with tweeters. And two 6 "speakers. I think the total is around 300. I didn't research them to much but it seems like a decent deal. People saw the poly cones on jbl's shit out fast due to the weather but I keep my boat garaged if I'm not using it. We'll see when I get to that point

It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

I was looking at it the same as cb5331. To get anything out of it you have to draw max current and operate at 2ohms. Might be ok on an atv or utv.

2 alpine 6 x 9's with a JL Audio amp built into a cube ice chest. Jams really loud and hook up iphone to RCA jacks on amp and bought a bluetooth remote for when cruising in the boat. Easy to move around the boat or take anywhere else, like the beach. Just a thought.

Running a pair or more speakers in series lowers the ohms which can easily cook a class a amp. JL are expensive but produce clean power in a small package.... and last quite a while in a marine environment. My buddy has a 34 See Vee with 28+ (the last time I counted) JL speakers and multiple JL amps. The boat stays uncovered on a lift in saltwater. Just started replacing a couple speakers and a couple amps after 6 years in that environment.

What are the best cheap DIY audio options? Thinking about just building a cooler stereo.

I bought the dual marine 6x9's from academy for 50 bucks, got the Boss marine deck off amazon for like 30 bucks. Cut holes in the front of the boat under the fishing deck with my angle grinder. Mounted my speaker deck on my switch panel console. Ran my wires and hooked all up sounds good and loud.

Can kindof hear it over the motor going wide open but I have that loud ass BPS exhaust. People in the boat say they here it loud and clear. Spent like 80 bucks and 2 hours hooking everything up. Had it about 2 months have had no issues.

If your going to go cheap just do not buy Pyle brand stuff, they do marine decks and speakers but they dont last. BOSS audio is a good buy, not to expensive and will hold up.
