PD experts, I'm debating between the hydro steering and stick steering upgrade to my hull. Those with either, how do you like it? |

Same here, my next rig with be one of the 2. Cant decide. But im thinking CC just to have more room. But, I will go with a stick steer if I can get the extra piece for the back deck that hopefully will fit ontop of the Stick steering components. |

I run timber 90 percent of the time. This year the water was up so the modded 40 merc did everything I needed it to. But If I had to go to a remote steer surface drive it would be a stick steer. That being said, unless your running tight (and I mean TIGHT) trails, I'd go with a cc. Especially if it's your year-around boat. |

Stick steer is nice for how rapid you can move side to side. But with any remote steer you loose considerable overall sterring.(can't turn as sharp either direction) stick steer has a higher profile, of which you will sit on top. Console has similar height to motor and you will have some protection being behind the console. It also takes up a considerable larger area in the boat floor. To me console was the way of go. I don't see many situations the stick steer would be ideal. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

I'm considering the stick steer because I can sit up top and pop from duck blind hole to dick blind hole and fish bass with out ever getting out of the seat. However it does take up space. Hydro steering is very nice. My current duck spot is a 45 minute run which generally always has rough water and cross winds. That tiller will work you hard. On the stick steer I can pop the seat off easily to lower it to a decent level to get in the blind |

Why does the stick steering setup HAVE to be built so tall? I don't see anything that would require the seat height to be so far up. Might have to get creative with the steering linkage but I think a stick steer that sits down inside the hull would be the ticket. Ideally you could sit down the same height as the top of the motor. If I ever were to do a console, it will be a real short side console. More like a bass boat type layout. |

Yep. Basically an aluminum flat bottomed bass type boat with plenty of deck space for fishing and a mud motor. I've had the idea brewing in my head for a while... Basically, think of this http://www.rangeraluminum.com/model.cfm?sid=7324 Stuck in your favorite mud hull.... You'd obviously have to pay attention to weight and such but I think it could be done and would be damn nice to fish the backwater from. |

No bud, it's a sportsman fab. I have a GTR CC... If mostly fishing, you can't beat the side console, followed by the CC. |

Man 45 minutes runnin' when it's 25* will make you appreciate getting that CC to hide behind and the first time you smoke a stump followed by four logs crossed together you'll wonder why the HELL ya didn't do it sooner! Don't buy that BS about it being slow to turn either, getcha tractor knob if you've really gotta be cranking on it often. |
