Just ordered an 1854 Prodigy elite with a 4400 HDR Black Death, does anyone own one of these motors are there any pros/cons? Have lots of experience with a mud buddy hd 35 but am wandering if all the aftermarket mods on the 4400 make the motor more or less reliable. |

i have that same set up and so far no complaints on the hdr i like it a lot. and as long as a motor is built right it will be just as if not more reliable than a stock engine |

i just ordered an 1854 prodigy open with the 37. My question is why buy the 44 when you could put a performance kit on the 37 for the difference between the two and you would have more HP than the 44 and would still have EFI. Am I missing something? This will be my first mud hull and mud motor so i have a lot to learn. |

Makes a lot of sense as far as working on it and dialing it in to your needs. And the average mechanically inclined person can work on it. |

My brother bought an 18/54 prodigy with a 35 GTR with the 4400 mods. (heads/carb/bpsq)... He recently sold the carbed engine and replaced with a 37 efi.... Performance is about identical...But the EFI Starts and idles better and burns less fuel. Doing so with a quiet stock exhaust. They both run 29 ish with a big blade MB wheel turning 4400 ish. |

Obviously the HDR motors are very new and there won't be a lot of reviews either negative or positive. You are in a sense, a guinea pig. Call yourself a field tester for MB motors because honestly you are. As far as efi .vs. a carburetor, for my area of knowledge, i'll take the mikuni all day. I'm not an efi hater, just know next to nothing about the systems. |

^ this. one small electrical problem and you can be chasing your tail all day trying to figure out what the hell is wrong. i like knowing I built it up tuned it and have everything dialed in right on my motor. There is a little extra work with the carb but its not a big deal. Changing jets from summer/fall temp changes so it running at peak power and a/f ratio for best performance. Takes me less than 10 minutes to remove carb swap jets or clean then reinstall carb and fire it back up. |

man ive heard those prodigy's are good boats and all but I bet you my excel will outlast and outrun your rig any day of the week. excels are the toughest boats on the market and mine has been put through hell to say the least. while I do like the layout of a prodigy better id take the durability of an excel any day. just my .02 cents but id sell that and get an excel if possible. just think about a 1751 old school camo F4 hooked to a platinum F-150 pointed straight at the ground with some tow mirrors on it would look. ![]() |

Not going to lie Freddy hooked me and my excel has done everything I asked and more. The durability is second to none these things are tanks. |

Let's see some of those rings... You claim to be awfully hard on equipment, let's see how it has held up! |

How would my pictures justify how hard I am on equipment? I'd say a 17 year old doesn't really take the best care of his stuff so even if I was "awfully hard on my equipment" it would show wear but does not effect the boat at all? Also, what classifies as hard on your equipment from the sounds of it you don't use yours to do its specific job |

Lol... Troll on Freddy. You know absolutely nothing about me or my boat other than what may be posted here. Yes I take care of what I spend my money on. But I guess because it's cool to neglect shit and intentionally tear something up nowadays, I don't "use it how it's intended" and for the record, you being 17, should have no bearing on how you take care of something... You should take better care of that $20K play toy daddy got for you. You might get the picture in 8-10years. Until then, I'd rather argue with a stack of firewood. I'll end up with the same result. Have a good one buddy. |

The whole reason I posted was to give some shit to my buddy who posted this topic, it's his rig. It never, ever, ceases to amaze me how someone (you in this situation) could get so butt hurt over a single comment from a friend to friend. You should get a life and stop arguing with someone who is probably over a decade younger than you. I'm sorry the only thing you can afford is a go devil maybe one day you can save up your "hard earned money" and buy a decent boat for yourself! Good luck, go get em' tiger! |

WDS....show up at Caddo and we can go check the durability and quality of your "tank" compared to a number of custom builds. We can compare it to mine first....that way you don't waste everybody else's time. When we're done, you're going to want to take your beat up, hooked and dented tin can back to Arkansas and hope the recycled aluminum dealer will take it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Guys guys, the durability of a boat is based on how much it costs and how cool it looks. Everybody knows that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'd love to see your piece of shit prodrive make it a hundred yards from the ramp, how embarrassing is it to have a center console duck boat? |
