Lost trim in both motors. Help
Ask a few people now and have got a few different answers. each side went out a week apart from each other after going over ruff water. here is what I have done so far completely takin apart wire harnesses to check for any lose wire non, I have put two brand new forward and revers modules on them and they do same as the old ones just click when you hit the trim. I have jumped across the module with screw driver motors hum for a sec but don't move. and last I have tried taking the blue and green wire to a dewalt battery left motor moves up and down when touching to the battery right motor dose nothing. Any ideas ? called one place by me and they are telling me I have to put in to new trim motors.

Re: Lost trim in both motors. Help
On the one that doesn't move up or down, the magnets inside the trim motors casing may have come unglued and locked up the motor. Had this happen on a mercury trim. You will lose some fluid, but I would take the motor off the unit that doesn't work and take it apart to see if magnets are ok. The one I had to replace would try to work, but after a few trys it would lock up and kick out the circuit breaker. Best place to get Mercury replacement motors is off Amazon.com $123 #809885A is a direct replacement.

Have you tried a new or different battery? They draw some amps and your battery could read enough volts but have a dead cell and can't produce the amps.

Mercury trim motor for MBs trim. Not familiar with other manufactures trim units, but thought they might use the same Mercury trim unit. At that, I would still take a look inside trim motor. With the abuse these units take it might be a problem with other manufactures trim units. IMO I think trailering with out some kind of support under motor, to ease weight on trim cylinder causes some of their failures. Transome saver might help combat this.

When these units quit. they quit. Good voltage, good reversing modules, good circuit breaker... If all that is good, you put the motors direct to a battery source and check for direction while reversing polarity.. If it don't work direct to the battery the unit is bad.
