So can someone please explain how the electric reverse works ? I'm thinking about buying a newer motor with EFI & reverse and know very little about how gator tail reverse works. Thanks |

instead of a hydraulic brake caliper holding the planet carrier, the second electric clutch acts as a brake to hold the planet carrier. |

So it's a planetary transmission? How exactly does it work? I know GTR has a brake handle but how do you get the transmission into reverse? Does the clutch have to be in neutral before attempting to engage the transmission? Thanks again. There aren't any dealers up this way or I'd go look at one... |

On the hydralic YES, it had to be in neutral. If you squeezed tge lever it would kill the motor. On the E reverse it is all in one switch. Instead of the old two position toggle(neutral/forward) the E reverse is a 3 position toggle. F-N-R. You cannot engage it in both. As otvers have said its a similar design but instead of and atv caliber squezing a rotor bolted to a planetary. You have another cutch that engages to give reverse. Okay, So now they have TWO electric clutches on their engine? And the second electric clutch locks up the planet carrier gears causing the output to be reversed? That has to be a definite improvement over a mechanical brake... Is everyone happy with it or are there concerns over how long the clutch will last before needing to be replaced? Thanks for any input... |

Yes, it reverses very hard with no slip. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |
