We have them on Lake Okeechobee by the rail car loads. Their scales/armor is hard as a rock. My son took his senko off and would work his hook under them in their bed and snag them. Taking a gun next time to shoot the tough bastards after catching them.

How do they taste?

Don't have a clue how they taste. Heard there is an Asian market for them, but they eat anything that doesn't eat them first. I'm sure they are a pain in the ass to clean. It would require a saw with carbide tips.

My kids have a 250 gallon cichlid tank. I have never been able to keep an Oscar more than 12 hours before it gets its ass handed to him..... then half eaten. Some of these cichlids are badass panfish.

Brian, you need to see some of the snakeheads my buddies have been catching.

The topwater strikes are ridiculous.

I had never seen one until last summer fishing on the Guadalupe here in Texas. Just like TPerkins said, the water was clear enough for me to see them. The ones I saw were larger than aquarium types though.
