Can someone with a 1848 flat bottom boat that sits on a trailer that fits the boat well please tell me the distance between the fenders? 52"... 54"... 56"? Thanks! |

Do you have the axle? Layout one side of your boat on a piece of paper or something and figure out how wide your axle is going to be. Figure out the width on the inside of your tires after they are mounted and subtract about 3"-4" (1 1/2" -2" clearance on each side for your fenders) and figure out how tall your fenders are and lay the side of your boat out how ever far you want to be from the fender. Then you have the width of your trailer. Or figure out what the center of the leaf springs are on the axles that you are available to you and figure it out from there. Sorry I've been drinking and hard to get my point across. Sent from my beeper |

I'm asking cuz my trailer is to damn wide.. I'm going to narrow it & need to know how much I need to cut out of the cross members. |

You'd probably be better off just getting some side bunks or adjusting the ones you have to fit closer to your boat. I had a 1844 on a real wide trailer and that's what I did Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

^^^ I've considered that. I just don't like the look of the wide trailer under the boat. LA Hunter, you must not have been too deep in the sauce... I actually think I understand what you're saying! |

Your frame can only be as wide as your leaf spring perches. You can cut the middle of the axle down to get your desired width though. Sent from my beeper |

Yeah, I'm well aware. I'm going to put a new narrower axle under it when I do the work. My current axle is junk. |

I would sell the damn thing and buy what I wanted before cutting the middle out and welding it back together Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

A weekend of labor is a lot easier for me to stomach than a new $2k trailer! Especially since I'm considering selling the rig. |

The Hell you worried about not liking the looks of it if you're thinking about selling it. Move your side bunks and be done with it. |

Do you have a pic of it? I wouldn't put any work on the appearance of it you will be selling it assuming it's structrually sound. |
