Post subject:  GTR trim extension

I have a 07 GTR with the old style trim. They used to have an aluminum extension that was installed on the ram of the trim unit that I believe GT used to make and install. I'm looking for one of those extensions. Would anyone have an older unit laying around that had this aluminum extension??

An extension or a cross member piece? I may have one in the shop if you're talking about the cross piece where the ram bolts to the frame up front

See the picture where there is the extension mounted? Not where it connects to frame. Rigged this up to make hunts this weekend but not right.

Wish i had an old picture of it. But basically it was a sleeve that slipped on the shaft and had the same profile of the end of the original shaft. You had to put a bolt their the sleeve and the original shaft. I bought the motor in 2010 and it was on the oringial trim unit.

That looks like an unnecessary hinge point that would make the trim do funny shit. Just my opinion

Yes, that's exactly what it does. Puts the whole system in a bind. But it got me thru a weekend of hunting.

why not just bolt the shaft itself to that point instead of having the linkage ? I know you would loose some trim.

You can, but even with the pin in the highest hole you don't have enough trim to really run it in the right position. It will work that way, but you aren't getting the most out of the motor without being able to trim it high enough.
