 Trailer slicks
Anyone have any DIY ideas on putting slicks on a trailer? I've searched on here but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. If I purchased the materials online it would run me $150 ish which is more tha. I want to spend on some damn plastic! Thanks for the info

 Re: Trailer slicks
There was a lengthy thread on mmt a while back about it. I used starboard and countersunk stainless screws from home depot. Loading the boat straight is a pain in the ass now. It is worth it not having to kill myself trying to unload it though.

Do the bottom of your boat and bunk for less

 Re: Trailer slicks
Definitely getting 6 guys to help me flip my barge and doing the G2 after season. Tired of sticking to the cattails.
Frog.... Will the starboard on the bunks damage the G2?

 Re: Trailer slicks
I got solid PVC 1x4 trim boards and glued down on top of my treated bunk boards (also counter sunk some screws).

 Re: Trailer slicks
Thanks for the info Frog. When I do it I will remove the starboard and apply the G2 to the bunks as well.

 Re: Trailer slicks
Buy some UHMW strips and screw it to your bunks. It will be slippery a a mole baby, so don't unhook your boat until its in the water. Don't ask me how I know. Stuff is fairly cheap to buy and it lasts a long time in the weather.

 Re: Trailer slicks
I do not think I have a way to suspend it. My shop is not red iron, it has galvanized steel trusses. Even though it is hurricane rated I am not sure that I trust it to support my boat.

 Re: Trailer slicks
Easiest poor mans way to flip a boat. Use a front end loader or a tractor, a bobcat, a forklift, or even a chain fall or winch in your shop. Lift the nose of the boat using the trailer eye as high as you can. I flipped my 18X60 By my damn self with a little help from my 78 year old grand father... He ran the tractor and I flipped the boat. I'm not a big strong guy either. Just have something set up for the boat to land on softly once you flip it. This did zero harm to the boat.

 Re: Trailer slicks
thought this was pretty cool. An older retired engineer built to flip his boat by himself.
Ibfishen you're not that far away, drag your boat over here and we'll/ you'll get it done LOL

 Re: Trailer slicks
Frog... I don't have a problem at all doing the prep and finish work[SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND TIGHTLY-CLOSED EYES]
I just don't think I have the correct setup to do it safely.
After season it looks like I will be at your shop taking direction to get it done safely.
