No other issues. Cranks and runs fine. Trims up and down. Just when I pull the switch to engage and put in gear, I get nothing. No clicking or anything.I bypassed the switch and got nothing. I can see the plate behind the drive gear and center nut turning all the time. I can turn the cog belt and gears easily by hand. TIA. |

Sounds like you've just got a wore out clutch. I would bypass switch (Like you've said) and make sure all connections are tight. If not, try out another clutch and see if that one works. |

Thanks I've got a couple of things to look at electrically and then I guess I'll start swapping out the clutch. |

If that's the original clutch, I would think its time for a new one. Never know until you start tearing down shit! |

Red wire from ignition that feeds the switch wasn't plugged in. I had replaced my fuel lines and pulled my carb. The wire must have come loose when I pulled the ignition panel. |

Yeah thanks. Me too. The clutch was working fine when I replaced all my fuel lines a few weeks ago. I was standing behind the boat when starting it and could see the back of the ignition switch and the red wire wasn't connected to anything and I could see a bare connector plug on the ignition. I plugged it in and BAM, it started working like new. Thanks for the responses. |
