So I found my buddy a sd on craigs for a grand said it ran good and nothing was wrong. Supposedly a 14 hp mud buddy surface drive . Well he bought it . It does appear to be mud buddy to me but it's missing shit for the manual trim . And he called yours truly and of course he said without a serial number from mud buddy he couldn't help. We just needa find out what model it is or what parts it's missing.. Any help ?? |

Motor looks like it use to have an old style Thompson or Bear electric trim on it. Some of the smaller HP motors had a air type cylinder which held the motor at its best trim angle. They discontinued that system, and offered a bear style trim unit to take its place. I think BPS still sells the Thompson electric trim cylinder and the SS bracket to bolt up to frame. In picture you can see a rusty out line of the bracket position. The bracket below the belt adjusting bolt is where a transom saver can be hooked up, to take bounce out of motor when trailering. Early motors had this feature before the motor lock they have now. |

Can you run just a manual trim in stead of electric? |

My buddy ran it the other day said he fought it like hell tryin to keep it from diving to deep or itd eventually die out . But I think that's because it looks like his frame stop, assuming it's that broke bolt wasn't bottoming the frame out . |
