That's really only the thing stopping me from getting a surface drive. The freedom outboards look a little suspect to me.

I mean come on, it can't be that hard. Closed loop cooling system, some kind of insulated cowling, and route the exhaust under water. I'm not saying make it as quiet as a 25 Yamaha four stroke, but at least make some kind of effort. Does anyone know if any companies are trying to develop something like this?

I certainly hope so. I'm not a fan of the loud exhausts. I know after long hauls, it feels like i've been at a concert. I've started wearing earplugs to keep from losing my hearing. I did see a picture of a magnaflow on a mud buddy i believe. Looked ridiculous but i wonder how well it worked.

I would love one. It's hell to try and scout and yes I use binoculars. There are a lot of places we go where the is only one slew to run to get back to other places and these exhaust get birds up for 300 yards on either side when ridding through.

Why not run the stock pipe in the winter?

I was hunting the other morning and a stock GTXD EFI came by us, it was a lot quieter than my Old 35 GTR with the BPS Q. It just didn't sound as cool!!!

I’ve run a flexible exhaust tube from autozone from my exhaust down to the waterline. It’s much better on my ears and I’ve had people tell me once I get 100 yards away or around a bend they can’t hear it anymore.

I agree I started wearing ear plugs as well. I have the Q muffler and its louder than a stock exhaust in my opinion. I have to yell to talk to the guy sitting by me at WOT.

There are a lot of decent mufflers for autos that flow great, yet have a "TONE" that isn't obnoxious. If somebody could come up with one for a MM they would have a winner. There are a few up here running the VooDoo and although I live 3/4 mile from the launch, I can hear them 3 miles away in Gibbs Chute or when the run up to Hammond chute.

My first mm was a older go devil with a 25 kohler. When I bought it there was flex pipe running down to the shaft housing and bent outward toward the prop and held in place with a u bolt. That thing was nice and quiet and I could actually drive up on birds. But after talking to a few people they said it was causing to much back pressure so I pulled it off. After another year I custom built duals for it and made it even louder? :? Since then i've had 3 sd's and every muffler made except the voodoo and rapid from bps. Running a baffled mm now and have been for 3 years. Still loud though.

I did a set of aggressive heads, tune and a couple touch ups on an otherwise stock efi prodrive. Lots of grunt for a heavy huntload, runs over 30 and quiet. One of my favorites for sho.

That is why I advocate using a stock pipe if you want it quiet.

The VooDoo is ridiculously loud. I've had a baffled Marshmellow since 2011 and I do not want to go any louder. Alot of my buddies have gone to the BPS Q.

The noise of an air cooled engine's fan is also pretty noisy. Look into the Hoss 75, It is a 1000 CC 3 cyl liquid cooled engine. It does come at a cost!

The new Q's aint as quiet as the older ones where that's for sure , but to me Stainless Works is where its at , very low mellow tone for sure and still performs. just my .02

I've found that running through a turbo makes the exhaust significantly quieter than stock. The engine life tends to be shorter, however.
