Does anyone actually know someone who has one or even seen one run in real life?

Pricing like that is extremely cost prohibitive for a new customer base. Is this thing in any actual low rate or mid rate production, or are they just building it to order?

Who wants to pay that much for essentially a prototype model?

If I were to go to one of these "new fangled" mud motors, I would have to go for the outboard modified to a mud motor, than a foreign made Chevy engine bolted to a bastard frame of a motor.
At least Tohatsu is a proven 4 stroke outboard. My only thing is that Freedom Outboards with just a little more thinking should have made the shaft a Hex so that the large majority of props would be usable.
Seems to me an EFI with exhaust and modded heads would be enough for my use. Especially since I use 2 different boats for sport and play.

They look funny and not have one but two set of gear points to change the thrust angle. aka horizontal to vertical back to horizontal. And its heavy and not for "small" boats. They all have their negatives and positives, I would lean more towards a motor that is actually designed for the higher rpms. In meaning that a car engine is not designed to run at 5,000+ rpms nor is a Briggs, Where as the Tohatsu 40hp 4S is rated up to 6200 rpms. It is all about what a person wants and the depth of their pocket.

I’d like one. Just having it be quiet would be awesome.
