Post PPF wood duck w/ beavertail final attack
Ive got a final attack and was thinking about getting a ppf wood duck for it. most of the reviews ive read on here of the ppf were from a few years back. just looking for reviews on the ppf and if anyone on here runs one on a final attack how do you like it? also if you own a ppf on a different hull how does it do. thanks

My PPF is on a Grumman Sport Canoe. I haven't GPS'd it, but it planes out very well with two guys, about 200 lbs each, 80 lb lab, couple dozen decoys, two guns. I have Subaru, I think it's a 210, on the frame. I'm very happy with it. I had a 6.5 hp beavertail on the Grumman before. It was an older beavertail, not aluminum. The beavertail was a lot slower than the PPF on the same boat with same load. I'm sure the added weight of the beavertail made a difference on how the Grumman handled it.

The PPF seems well made with good attention to detail. I'm sure there are other good small motors out there, but this is the one I have and know about.

I know as of right now, the PPF is a direct competitor to the little SWOMP Lite. Backwater is also about to release a SWOMP Ultra Lite. I don't have much informing on it right now besides it is going to weigh even less than the Lite. I would maybe hold off on a decision until I had some more information on the Ultra Lite. Best of with the decision and let us know what you end up going with.

I built a mud motor similar to a PPF only I added the Backwater Surface Tracer plate. Run it on a fiberglass Indian River canoe. With a light load (me, a couple of kids, some fishing crap) it'll do 14-15mph in shallow. I think it would do just fine on a Beavertail Final Attack. The important part is whatever you put that motor on, make sure it has a flat bottom. Me and my buddy tried my motor on his Nucanoe and it didn't work worth a crap with that kayak shaped bottom.

Check out Stump Jumper mud motors also. Been around for quite some time and somewhat common in this area.
