As of about an hour ago, I am the new owner of this 20' x 48" custom mud boat. It's heavy, built out of 3/16. Now I am in the market for a motor.. I've never ran an SD before; the only thing I have experience with is longtails and outboards. I've got my heart set on a new 40HP Backwater LT, but my hunting partner is telling me to get a SD. It's not in question whether Backwater is a great brand or not, because that's common knowledge, but do you guys think I will regret the longtail and wish I had gone with an SD? I live on Lake Livingston, which is the stump capital of Texas, and I also hunt the marsh down on the coast, but my average run is between 2-10 miles one way. What do y'all think? |

Can of worms. Based on your needs stated in another post, both will suit your needs fine. You'll like the surface drive for speed and ease of running, you'll like the longtail for the reach and "4wd". Both will do the job. #CFFITR #TheGhostBoat #whoneedsphysicsihaveamudmotor |

I like neutral and reverse. Think about that if you are gonna fish or pleasure boat with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
