My starter has been in and out for a little while and finally shit the bed on me last night. I was looking at replacing with a stock briggs and its gonna be about $270. If in gonna spend that money i want to get the best option. I have heard of people using different starters on mud motors like GM or ford starters. Has anyone done it and what are the pros/cons?

Re: 36 PD starter replacement
I bought a knockoff on the internet for $80 delivered. Been on for two months no problems. Starts just as good as the original did when new.

Re: 36 PD starter replacement
Db electric is the source of the $80 version. Only starter I've had that hasn't crapped out with reasonable use.
