I bought a stock stainless muffler from prodigy for $40 ($60 with shipping) with the intention of gutting it out. I found a lot of talk about gutting a stock muffler but couldnt find a lot of pictures or instruction. Here is some pictures of mine and how i did it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Resorted to the ole oxy acetylene torch to heat up the welds and then punch them while they were hot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ended up burning 2 small holes through the muffler with the torch and punching that one hole with the punch. Getting the walls out was a huge pain in the ass but cutting them in half with the torch made it easier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Gonna weld it up this weekend. My only question is should i take out the section of the out flow too? I think it should be fine with that piece in there. Any input is appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Looks good bud. I would leave it in there unless you want it pretty damn loud |

I gutted a couple also, not an easy project. My finished ones look like and sound like this. Nothing pretty about them after butchering them to get guts out. |

ON the ones I gutted I left the outlet pipe intact but I drilled a few bigger hole in it where those smaller holes are for a little better flow but still acted as somewhat of a baffle. Also an air chisel works Purdy well on the inside to get the guts out. I used one to cut around those 3 welds on the inside on the plate on the inside so I didn't cut through the can. then I took a big dremmel with carbide grinder bit n ground down the welds on the inside. |

i don't know what my local welder does. i bring him some old mufflers and a pack of froglegs and then i go pick up the gutted muffler in a couple days. lol i hate them loud mufflers but it's cheaper than buyin a new one. i get a new one every hunting season. |
