Re: Two Killed - several injured
Sadly - brand new boat on first use - overloaded - alcohol - 30 mph - in or near a No Wake Zone - same place where another fatal accident occurred a few years ago... Other driver may have been partially at fault too according to reports was also overloaded and going too fast for conditions - but now deceased... https://abc13.com/boater-arrested-after ... h/5360852/Now three dead... Very Sad !

Re: Two Killed - several injured
This is at the same launch we hold the Mud Bugs & Mud Boats. For anyone that has launched there we typically run out the main channel and turn left to go into the open part of the lake/ body of water... I believe the area that the accident occurred was between the launch and the river. It is connected by a very narrow channel barely wide enough for 2 boats. Several blind corners too.
Very sad for all involved. Prayers sent.

Re: Two Killed - several injured
Unfortunately I knew everyone involved in this. The surviving girl from the bass boat was an ex girlfriend of mine, all of her family on board were killed. Sad part is everyone on both boats were friends and were just all at the sandbar together.
The ski boat driver was a very good friend of mine as well. Although he was drinking, in the location the crash happened was unavoidable, therefore he is at fault. The wreck still would have happened weather there was alcohol involved or not. You know what I’m talking about Giga...that ditch is to narrow and winding for two boats to run on top. And no they were well out of the no wake zone, by several hundred yards. Wrecks have happened here before, and people have been killed there before. Multiple times. It’s a problem spot and needs to be blocked off or filled in.
Just wanted to clear that up...this wasn’t your typical drunk driving and running over another boat....
