Anyone have thoughts on these? Any particular brands they recommend or avoid?

Agreed. Have used the same fuel without adding fresh gas after letting the tank sit from feb to june or july to october, with no issues and I don't run ethanol free. Fuel line gets replaced every 2 years whether it needs it or not, but I've never found bad gas in the carb bowl during my preseason checks, nor gunk buildup. I top off the tank when I hook up to the boat for use, and just let it sit when I'm done. Make sure you have a good fuel filter and run seafoam in every tank, should keep things nice and clean. No need to overuse, either. I run the amount listed on the bottle except for the last tank of the season when it's going to sit up, I double it.

I use seafoam and stabil. I also only use ethanol free gas. Even though ethanol free gas doesn't have the water and phase separation issues as E10, any unleaded gas will varnish a carburetor if it sits up for a long time.

Also, Heet is solid for water in fuel (per project farm on YouTube so take that as you want). At like $2 a bottle I add some most every time just to be careful.
