Post Electric fuel pump help...
I think I'm going to throw an electic fuel pump on my rig this year and I was wondering if those of you who already have them could offer a little info. I am looking at the Mr Gasket 42S or the 12S. I'm wondering if one is better than the other, or if there is something else I need to look at all together..?? thanks guys.

PS- its going on an older 16HP GDLT (Briggs motor) on a 1436 W/pods, just FYI

Go to Napa... There is a Misc. 12V Fuel pump that runs around $30.00. It is Silver, about 2"x2". Get the Lowest pressure sold.

Hope this Helps..

i run a 16hp lt gd. i got tired of the mech fuel pump crap and went electrical.
b&s recommend 2 psi on the needle and the seat. use the facet 40163 http://www.yachtsupplydepot.com/mechani ... t_697.html or http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/ep/ ... ctric.html has them. they have 24 inches of dry lift you can mount them on your motor and you dont have to worry with a pressure regulator. i have absolutally no problems. i can use any size lines, quick connects, and you dont have to mount it to the boat close to the fuel tank like some say. Just ask Paul Puleo he is a facet/puralator rep. I also use a hobbs low pressure oil shut off switch so if you pull your lanyard or stall the motor the pump will shut off. If you do get the 4psi pump at napa it will work but you have to be careful not to flood her out and maybe go with a regulator to maintain pressure. just checkem out http://www.facet-purolator.com/index.ph ... &Itemid=31

Use the lowest PSI you can find. Also, it will kick off when pressured up.

Sorry man but facet pumps do not shut off when they hit pressure they just "dead head" like a mechanical pump. thats why you need to get a 2.5 psi or if you get the 4 psi, a regulator. the new mikuni pumps that virtually all engine makers have turned to are designed for tanks that are close and parallel with the gas tank. if you look at the links youll see that ultralight and marine engines use the electrical because of the risk of loosing power in the air or stranded out in the middle of a body of water. imo the mikunis are not the best fit for the job, the are designed for mowers, tractors, and the like. If mechanical pumps are so great why dont you see them on cars anymore?

I can't remember what psi my pump was, but it doesn't shut off when at pressure, just runs as long as the key is on. My tank is in the bow and the mechanical on the motor wouldn't pull that far. I haven't had any problems since I put it on, the fuel filter at the motor is always full and the motor runs good.
