I was out running my rig this past weekend and on the way back to the ramp it started to act a little funny. I would put it in gear and it wouldn't do anything till I hit the gas a little, then it kicked in. I know this problem has been discussed before but can't remember the solution to the problem. Any help? I checked a few wires but didn't notice anything different. When I got to the ramp I put it in neutral and turned it off. I went to try and start it again to put it on the trailer and it won't do anything. Turn the key and nothing. I think it is stuck in gear maybe. Please help. Thanks. |

battery cables might have a little corrosion on them or ignition could be getting bad like mine did. |

Thanks. I'll check that. Just curious, what do the two small plastic boxes that have a few wires running into each one that connect to the battery post do? What does it control? |

Red wire on the back of ignition is still good. Checked the forward/start switch and it looks to have all the wires still connected to it. Can't get it to do anything. Trim still works. But when I turn the key, nothing happens. Maybe my ignition went bad? Any other suggestions? |

Robert, go through all u'r wiring and check the grounds. If the grounds check out okay, take a look at de key switch. |

Test to see if you get an electrical signal on da blue wire at da clutch when key is on and switch is in forward position. If you don't have one buy one der only like $5-$10. |

OK. I checked the current through the blue wire. It seems to work fine. I also checked the red wire at the ignition. I am getting nothing at the red wire. I unplugged the red wire from the ignition. I then plugged one end of the tester to the red wire and other end to the ignition. I am getting nothing through the red wire. Should I be? |

Damn. I followed it down from the ignition to see where the red wire goes. I unplugged the plastic 6 or 8 pin connector. Tested the red wire through this and still nothing. Kept following it to the source and it looks like it goes to the regulator. Is this correct? |

Well I got to thinking about it and it may have been starting before he checked the switch and if while checking it he let the red wire make contact with the engine he then could have blown the fuse which will not let the engine start. The keyswitch could be bad which is not getting the juice to the clutch. |

I will check the fuse...that is if I can find it. Where is it located on the motor? The only fuse I know of is the small in line fuse on the purple wire in the battery box, but I thought this fuse was for the trim. That is correct, trim still works fine. I try to turn the key and nothing. I also try to flip the forward/neutral switch and I can normally hear the clutch engaging back by the belt housing, but now I do not hear anything happening back there. Thanks for the help guys. |

Nevermind. I found the fuse. Looks corroded beyond belief. Going to pick up a new one soon and hopefully this fixes the problem . |

You have another inline fuse on the port side of engine right by the starter. Thay is two of 'em ... one looks like a little breaker-box with a reset and the other one is a in-line. |

Coe the older GTR's have the relays behind the two toggle switchs on the engine under the cover just over the trim motor. In the same area as the fuse there is also a lil' square box with a tiny lil reset button that is for the trim. This will need to be reset if you get no response while trying to operate the trim motor,at least its the first thing you should check. |
