Post oh F*** help !!!!!
Guys,
Have any of you'll had a 35 van. just die on you? Full gas tank, kill switch is good and it shuts down like you just turned off the ignition? Someone told me something about a low oil shut off censor? The oil might be a little low but F***. You want to talk about freak'n out took the wife out on a pleasent Sunday run in the local marsh and this s*** happens, not to mention she's 7 MONTHS PREGNATE. Talk about some s*** talk'n all I could think about was hav'n to pack her azz out of there. Gotta get this issue resolved before anymore trips. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could very well be a little low on oil. Normally, just add a little oil to it and give it a crank. Most Briggs engines come with low oil shutoffs. It is a good idea to carry an extra quart of oil with you in the boat. Keep us posted as to what you find. Good luck.

Didn't I read something about the 35vans having a wire that the insulation would rub off causing a short to ground and killing the engine????

Did it crank right back up or did it hesitate?

I had to choke it a little but it would always crank back up. The tank's vent is fine, the oil looked ok when it was level, but Brooks said something about a diode wire harness. The motor is a 35 van Mud buddy. Once again any other input is greatly appreciated. Thanks Guys

Oil sensor's on the left side (looking at the motor) single wire to it under the crank case breather tube.

There's also a fuel shut off solenoid at the carb - two wires go to it.

What did you do to get it started again?

Think i may have an idea what went wrong. Oil was good, Gas tank vent was good. I had ran this motor acouple of time before with no problems, but i happen to look at the gas and i only had about a 1/4 inch of gas left in the tank (custom gas tank). The wind was blowing its azz off that day and we had some pretty choppy waves rock'n the boat a little. Do you'll think the motor my have sucked some air shut down and then caught prime again and fired right up?

Damm! I thought that Mud Buddy had trained them things to run without gas!

Oh well, there are those who have and those who will.
