 Key switch indicator light installed.
I've killed/rundown my battery too many times by killing the motor with the kill switch. To help as a reminder that the key is still on, I installed a small LED indicator light. Quick, easy install that cost a whole $1.99 plus tax.
This is what the LED looks like, Radioshack #276-271
To install Drill a 9/32" hole in the cowl, insert wires, lLED thread the washer, then locknut over wires and finger tighten. I'd imagine the switch is the same on the PD, GD, and GT as the MB. On the MB I just hooked the wire on the keyed power terminal, and slid the connector over it to hold it one. The wire is small enough it fit between the rolled portion of the terminal. Finished by using a ring terminal for the ground. IIRC its 1/4" ring. I used one of the carb. bolts as thats as far as the wire would reach. Thats it, all done. Takes longer to get the tools out then to hook it uo. Hope this helps others from killing there battery.

I really hate to post this cuz I'm gonna sound stupid, but what is causing your battery to run down? Ive left my key on overnight with no problems, thats why I ask.

On the motors with a clutch if you leave your clutch engaged with the key in the on position it will drain your battery dead.

Oh. Well now I don't feel stupid. I don't have a clutch, or ever owned one with a clutch. Guess thats why battery never got drained.

Re: Key switch indicator light installed.
Thats exactly it, leaving the clutch engaged. I do that alot when bowfishing and running from one spot to another. I kill the motor and coast up on the spot I'm headed to. That only runs the battery down, but I left it one one night loading the boat and next day getting ready to head out and the battery was completely flat lined. I got lucky that time and it was able to recover, but a $2 LED is alot better than $100 battery.

I do it all the when I run the motor at the house or I kill it putting it on the trailer.
