 Re: RELIABILTY WITH CAM
A friend and myself both bought cams from Hoyt and have had no issues at all. We both have over 150 and 200 hours on mods with no issues.

 Re: RELIABILTY WITH CAM
A good cam is an awesome match wit heads. And da only cam failure I've ever seen was a stock cam on a completely stock motor. I also recomend Hoyt's cam.

 Re: RELIABILTY WITH CAM
I have a BPS cam with heads and its doing really well for me. BPS cam is ground from a stock blank, not welded up but its not as aggressive as some of them out there.

 Re: RELIABILTY WITH CAM
MY evt cam failed after 2 hours , (one in the driveway one on the water)
I went with the bps and have done ok for another 30 or so hours until a lean conditon eat up a piston.
If you are doing a cam stay away from the roller rockers, I think the extra duration along with the higher lift is putting too much strain on the valve train. along with shitty welding jops on the rebuilds. If you look back you will see quite a few cams breaking or going flat.
A buddy of mine has lots of hours on hoyts cam with no problems running stock pistons and rods along with a bps intake and a mukuni. His 16xd 60 gd sd boat with 35 hp gd sd is real fast, it jumps out of the hole and hits top speed of 31 or 32 in no time at all.

 Re: RELIABILTY WITH CAM
Have a buddy with a MB45 (cam, rods, pistons, p-rods, roller rockers) over 220 hours. Rockers don't seem to put too much strain on the valve train.

 Re: RELIABILTY WITH CAM
QC was refering to me about the stock cam failing in a stock engine. I decided to upgrade while the repair is taking place. I went with Heads and a cam from Hoyt. I cannot trell you how it runs yet, but JC's motor sure impressed me. Hoyt also did Tchredneck's motor, and that prodrive is strong.
