After setting up the decoys yesterday morning I was fixing to take the anchor light down when I noticed I could see the air filter on my 36 PD. I thought the outer nut had come loose but when I tried to tighten it the entire breather assembly hit the water.

The Bolt that holds the air filter and cover on broke off on the restrictor plate. I don't have a scratch on the breather cover so I dont think I hit anything.

Anyone else had this happen? About how much did it cost to fix? I super glued a bolt in the plate after I drilled out the "bolt" that was in it. Don't like the setup and want to go OEM.

The covers are bad for falling off. Just drill ya a lil hole on each side through the cover and zip tie it.

Call your dealer. They will replace all the breather assembly parts for free. Mines fell of 2 times so far in the first 9 months.

The studs break where they pass through the mounting plate. Drill it out and replace with a 1/4" stainless bolt long enough to go through the whole assy. The constant vibration weakens the stud till it breaks off on the PDs.

Did you have to drill out the air filter plate also? The way I was looking at it the filter plate sits flush with the restrictor plate. If I was going to put a lock nut on it wouldn't I have to enlarge the hole and use a washer on the air filter plate?

I have the OEM replacement parts if you need them (used). If you have already drilled out the carb shield, then put a high grade screw in it (metric) so it won't break off again. Then put some aircraft gasket sealer on the threads so it won't vibrate off.

FYI..if it breaks off again dont let off the gass to soon...your filter will fall off once the suction is lost. Dont ask how i know.[/quote]
