 Black Death Intake
Well, I finally decided to try out the new Black Death intake. Keith form SETX Performance got me the intake, the boot, and the brush guard. Installation was easy. I'm hoping to get it in the water this weekend to get some numbers. Once I run it with this intake, I'll decide weather to keep this one, or put my EVT back on.
Anyone else switched from the EVT to the Black Death? If so, were there any gains or loss in performance? The main reason I wanted to try it was because I like the lower more compact look of the Black Death. If it runs the same or any better, I'll be selling the EVT intake.
Review to come this weekend. Here are a few pics of the finished install. I painted the brush guard with black bedliner and used it as a place to mount the Tach.

 Re: Black Death Intake
Looks good. Like the bedliner idea- thats a good tip.
I would recommend you re-route the throttle cable if you can. If you run through some brush it can hang up and you may be accellerating without trying to. Thats also why I keep my tach down on the motor face too.
I have run the throttle two ways:
Or around the back and around- depends on your throttle cable length.

 Re: Black Death Intake
Db8....... I find the second way you show to cause the cable not to go all the way back to idle when coming off the throttle. It likes to hang up around 1500 rpms. I have to give the throttle a little flip to make it jump back down to 800.
If I can't find a cure for this I'm going back to the first way shown.

 Re: Black Death Intake
I had the same throttle problams as you did bbb. And I'm not too worried about any brush catching the throttle cable the way it is because I always have the poling platform on my boat. It kinda protects the motor.

 Re: Black Death Intake
They said they tuned it, the new intake has two distinct intake ports split in front of the carb inside the intake vs. at the intake on the older style. As stated above, its also a little lower profile.

 Re: Black Death Intake
Sorry fellas, I forgot all about the review. The intake is awesome. I really noticed the difference on my low end. With the EVT, I had to feather the throttle on takeoff. I did see a gain of about 100 RPMS. I really like the fact that the intake sets the carb much lower than the high rise EVT. If you are thinking about an intake, the Black Death won't dissapoint.
