what makes 35 vanguard keep runnin?

 what makes 35 vanguard keep runnin? my buddy as a brand new 35 cdi vanguard and when u turn off the key it starts to spit and sputter and the finally turn off (i think it just wants to stay runnin!!LOL) Any idea's would be nice! Thanks

Re: what makes 35 vanguard keep runnin? mine did it too for a while, a friend of mine told me to start running super gas through it, when i did it quit. not sure why or if that even had anything to do with it...........may want to give it a try. by no means am i a mechanic i just had a similar situation and this was the fix to my problem.

Re: what makes 35 vanguard keep runnin? that is detonation. the piston is super hot and is burning unburnt fuel. that is why it does it with no power to the plugs, the piston is hot enough to ignite it. switch to higher grade gasoline, it usually solves the problem.
