 K&N air filter question
Hi everyone I'm new to the site and this is my first post. I have a 32 HP Prodrive on a 17x44 Gatortrax and I am wanting to put a K&N filter on it and I have one of the Donaldson intakes. I was just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this kind of setup with a K&N and if so what kind of performance did you get because I am wanting to do something to get better performance out of my motor. Any input is appreciated.

 Re: K&N air filter question
Just an air filter ain't gonna help that much. I use the donaldson set up with a cone style k&n mounted on it instead of the hose and airbox. My motor has Cam, exhaust, and heads as well though, and I doubt I gained very much performance from the air filter alone.

 Re: K&N air filter question
So what would be something that I could do to my motor to get better performance out of it and it be something than an average person could do such as myself

 Re: K&N air filter question
The average person can install any parts on one of these engines. They are really pretty simple. Parts are gonna need a trip to the machine shop to really make any kind of difference as far as performance goes.
Deadbird8 has posted a few tricks for the stock carb and intake that can help clear up some bottom end issues, but you are talking minimal improvements. Every little bit helps, and you can do this on your own.
Best thing I could recommend would be to start by putting a decent flowing air filter and good free flowing aftermarket exhaust. Next step would be having your heads reworked and an upgrade to SS valves. My next move would be a cam, though some would choose a carb as their next upgrade. I am currently running cam, heads, and exhaust with the stock carb and I am very pleased with how the motor runs. Very powerful. Night and day difference over stock.

 Re: K&N air filter question
Just re-read your first post. Upgrading to the 36 carb is a good idea as well.
