 Re: leak down test
get a compressor and a leak down tester, pull the rockers off the heads so the valves are closed, pull the spark plugs out, roll the piston to the bottom of its stroke, put the leak down adapter in the spark plug hole, regulate the preasure to 100psi on the leak down. the low preasure guage will be the percentage of leakage and you will be able to hear the air leaking out the valves

 Re: leak down test
Save the money ,pull the heads and bring them to wayne at harahan auto. get them decked at 50 thou, and do a triple angle valve seat or spend a little more and have the manley ss values put in . Factory valves are not ground in. Call Micha at mudbuddy and get the good head gaskets.

 Re: leak down test
yea, that does seem like a pretty time consuming job. Im planning on heads next and my compressions equal so ill skip the test. Anyone know how having your stock heads worked compares to sending heads in for a new set like mb does. to me i would just feel more comfortable spending the money on a new head.

 Re: leak down test
Every one reworks stock heads. Deck no more than 50 thou., clean up the air ways, Leave the valve stem guides alone. Wayne found me some manly stainless valves that were under cut for flow, we went 30 thou larger in dia. which got us a great 3 angle seat. Shim the springs 60 thou. Go with the bps roller rockers, with evt you have to modify the block and can't go back. EVT rocker are 5/1 ratio, performance cam told me that the cams that failed were used with 5/1 ratio roller rockers and had cams with . 300 lift. Do one or the other, be careful doing both. I just put the belt back on mine and will re torque the heads in the next week or so . I will tell you if I see any gains form the over bore and new valves. I will take it to reggio to run it if you wish to tag a long.

 Re: leak down test
Both. When my evt cam failed it was all evt parts, when the damage to the cyl was found later I was told it was due to the mudbuddy replacement cam, I used to get the motor back in service. Don't mix internals.
Performance cam is the company that re welds the cams. When I called them looking for a replacement, they told me they were having some broken cams that had more than .300 lift when use with roller rocker that had a duration of 5-1. That was with mud motors and Jr dragsters.
If you are going to do roller rockers do bps, you don't have to mill the rocker guides off the head and do not need a valve cover spacer. If you get the rockers get the push rods right from mudbuddy. They come with a warranty, and you can go back to stock if you wish later.
