 Stage 1 GTR review
Just got my GTR back from Calen's engine service. Calen was a pleasure to deal with and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to engine work.
35 GTR stage 1: Heads, cam, MM exhaust, K&N airfilter 18'6x54" Sportsman's Fabrication 3/16 bottom, 1/8" sides, double bottom
Load 1: empty - 1 person @ 185, 6 gal gas: Deep water: 30-31 steady, bumped 32 a couple times, but was not able to open up for long due to porpoising. Turned it up to over 4100 but seemed to perform best turning around 3850-3950.
Load 2: 3 men, 185, 200, 280, 16 gal gas, boat blind, 2 icechest (100# total), all hunting gear, as well as fishing gear, trolling motor/battery: Deep water: 26-27 steady @ 3850, bumping 28 WOT. Ran some 4-6" flats, ran great, didn't get any speeds. The motor didn't bog down in mud, hit the throttle and it goes.
I am very pleased with the modifications: Hole shot is night and day difference, the load carrying capabilities are greatly improved and the slight increase in speed is a bonus. The motor just runs better in general - better throttle response, smoother idling etc.
