Re: GDSD with Center Console steering
Umm, how about if I put on one of those unreliable aftermarket trims?

 GDSD with Center Console steering
You would have to rebuild frame yo take steering system and basically have a trim to hold it their

Re: GDSD with Center Console steering
Well maybe this "want" will pass until it turns into a "need".
Making 12 mile runs at night to fish sure would be alot easier holding a wheel than a handle.
I know a local guy put a couple tilt and trims on some longtails and added stick stearing. Might have to drop by his shop and see what wheels I can get turning in his head.

 GDSD with Center Console steering
A GDSD with a console steer would be a joke. Not trash talking the motor... It's just the way it was designed. No way it could work with a balanced motor.

Re: GDSD with Center Console steering
Found this.... hard to adjust trim while underway, no neutral, and when you hit a patch of lillies that aught to be fun.

Re: GDSD with Center Console steering
I guess you still crank the motor on the actual engine, instead of the console, and lift it out of the water?

Re: GDSD with Center Console steering
Sell it and find a PD or GTR and convert it to console steering and be much happier.

Hell yeah it can be done. Just better be pointed in the right direction when you hit the key.

Re: GDSD with Center Console steering
Sell it and get a real motor. You'll be super glad you did, driving a gd and then a gtr, pd, even a mb, is like night and day. You'll wonder why it took you so long to leave the ancient wanna be sd long ago

Re: GDSD with Center Console steering
i noticed the handle also. you would need at least 3 hands to run it. 1-for the wheel, 1-for the gas, and one to lift the motor. two sets of eyes wouldnt hurt either. 1-to see where you are going and 1 set it see the handle to pick the motor up. also notice how close the console is to the motor, guess it has to be there.
come to think of it, it would almost need two people to run it.
theres your ansewer, get a buddy to drive and you can save on all the mods. that would be easier than remote steering.

Re: GDSD with Center Console steering
it was done 15 years ago with longtails, for crawfisherman. It had a big wheel for steering and you would push it forward to pick the prop out of the water. It had real limited uses. So it could be done for sd, but it would limit it's use.
