I put a stock 35 gator tail on a 1650 alumacraft waterfowler. The boat doesn't perform well in mud as expected. In deep water with 2 200lb guys and hunting load with layout blinds added I was able to hit 27 on calm water and 25.6 going into the wind on the way back. My next investment will be a mud hull but should I be happy with these speeds. Im only turning about 3800 rpms with this new big blade I get about 4050 oow. Im new to this so any advice would be great. Thanks

your oow rpm should be around 4200-4300

In my opinion for that length of boat and the load you are describing the speeds you are getting are pretty much what u can expect reasonably

The speeds posted here are sometimes overstated.

i think that's about rt. that's around what i run on my 1656 go devil hull w/ a gtr35. it was a little better w/ everything brand new. you have the gtail big prop, rt? i haven't tried the mud buddy big blade, but i've read it has more cup & cuts ~2 mph. i was told by super fe to set wot at no higher than 4150 (on stock engine) - and i have mine set a little bit lower.

For the boat you are running and load that sounds pretty good.

Your speeds are about right, and the mud capability shouldn't be that bad, I can mud right alongside a 36PD on an 1854 PD hull. I know that it would be way better on a slick bottom hull, but it is do-able on what you and I have, I do it all the time.
