 Oil Weight and zink levels
Look up Schaeffer's #707 V-Twin 20W-50 and give me some feedback. http://www.schaefferoil.com/supreme-700 ... g-oil.htmlLooks like some good hit and the Zink package is about 400 PPM's greater than anything else i have found? What do you guys think...Everything I have ever seen from Schaeffer's is good stuff.

Re: Oil Weight and zink levels
Well... After conducting some searches, doing some tests, taking surveys, speaking with experts, and sending it to a scientist to break down every element it contains. My counclusion is.
Its still a lawnmower engine and its not gunna change much.

Re: Oil Weight and zink levels
Lawnmower engines cut the yard. My engine has marine on it and don't cut the yard. My lawnmower engine doesn't have a mikuni carb, hi flow exhAust, r shaved heads either.

Re: Oil Weight and zink levels
If your looking for the conventional oil with Higher zing levels look up Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40 and Rotella T 15w40. Bothe have high amounts of Zppd with Mobil being higher. Both oils can be found at your local wally world for cheap. If you want synthetic amsoil makes a Vtwin oil for racing IIRC and it has a high zddp package for flat tappet cams.

Re: Oil Weight and zink levels
The only way to know how well an oil is doing in your engine is to do an oil analysis. Yep, thats the only way. Personal opinion and color has not the damn'est impact. Do your own research on different oils and make your own decision from there. Oil is Oil.

Re: Oil Weight and zink levels
I run Mobil 1 10w-40 high mileage. It's designed to meet SL requirements so it has a better additives package. Visit www.bobistheoilguy.com to learn as much as you want.

Re: Oil Weight and zink levels
From what I've read, Mobil pretty much makes the synthetic base stock that most synthetic oil manufacturers use. This includes Amsoil.

Re: Oil Weight and zink levels
just read an article on zppd. it said that they are consumed as the motor runs. an oil that starts with say 1200 ppm will go down by half in a short time. it further stated that there are several additives that cost around 20 bucks that will treat 5-6 qts of oil. they are compatible with all oils. the bottom line was if you add it to reg oil it will work out to about the same per qt as the higher zppd oils.

Re: Oil Weight and zink levels
what weight are you guys running, I am running 20w-50 right now, I know the 20w-50 will take the heat better, but just wonder what the affects during my two week winter will be, i assume just longer warm up times and a little harder to start...

Re: Oil Weight and zink levels
20W50 will be a little thick in winter, better have a good battery.
I run 10W30 Mobile 1, has done well for 300hrs.
If you are worried about it (after reading your posts I am sure you are), add some Cam Shield (ZDDP additive) $9 for 3oz that treats 4 quarts. Get it at the performance shop.
And its spelled Zinc.
