 Re: Electric fuel pump
Stock one that operates off the vacuum from the intake.

 Re: Electric fuel pump
I'm using a Facet too and it's a great pump. I only lost prime once last year and it was my fault for not letting it run the usual 2-3 seconds before starting the engine.

 Re: Electric fuel pump
Is that the right part number? I am searching online and get nothing with that part number. Closest I can find is a 40104.

 Re: Electric fuel pump
Install the pump as close as possible to the gas tank so that it is pushing the fuel out to the motor, not having to pull it all the way to the motor.
Close to the tank as low as possible, and you should have no problems, let it run 2 to 3 secs. before you crank the engine as Chico says.
I am planning on running my fuel line with swivel fittings so that if something happened to the facet pump, i could take it out of the loop and re-install the primer bulb in the field if need be, that way i could get out of the swamp if the pump was to fail, even though these pumps are almost bulletproof from what the research indicates.
always remember Murphy's Law. if it can happen it will happen...
any more questions i will be glad to help as long as my knowledge will allow it.

Never had a problem with my stock fuel delivery 3 years and never had a single fuel related issue.

 Re: Electric fuel pump
My MB 5500 came with an electric fuel pump from the factory but it was an automotive canister type that I really didn't like. So what I did is that I used male/female electrical connectors on connections to my fuel pump and carry the spare pump in a compartment. Just an idea. It'll save you a whole lot of squeezing that primer bulb if the pump goes out on you 15 miles from the ramp!
my engine came with the stock little chikenchit vacuum pump, the facet is going in with the new fuel line, thinking about getting a permanent tank too. were did you get your tank chico? and how big is it?

 Re: Electric fuel pump
It's an 18 gallon tank and I had it custom made from a place here in Miami called Sunshine Tanks. Gator Trax completely screwed up when they made the fill hole on my deck since it was no where near the fill on the 9 gallon tank the boat originally came with. So I had them weld a longer fill neck and a small bracket for the fuel pump too. Now everything works perfectly and the pump is out of the elements.
Just remember that the most important thing is to let the fuel pump run 2-3 seconds before starting the engine. You'll hear the Facet rattle a bit while it's trying to prime the fuel system. Then once it does, it'll get silent so don't start the engine until the pump quiets down.

 Re: Electric fuel pump
With my fuel line being about 15 or so feet long would that facet 40104 fuel pump being something my 23 Vanguard need?
I'm not so sure that the stock pump can draw enough fuel since the tank is so far away.

 Re: Electric fuel pump
With my stage one PD I had to run a Napa pump and it was mounted on the transom. Had no problems, just waited for it to stop rattling then started. Now, I have a stock 31 MB and the stock pump pulls fine with the tank in the front of my 20' boat.

 Re: Electric fuel pump
ditto on that. if you bend the ears on them, it will cause it to malfunction also. might just wire it up and pump into a bowl to check flow. I use the 40177 2psi at 15gph and if your using that much gas then you got bigger problems.
