 Mikuni and gutted exhaust update
Most guys on here know my rig, its a 17x52 tub! Most I've gottin out of it (stock w/ new prop) was 26-27 mph steady, rpms 3750 to 3850 thats a light boat and a half a tank of gas with just my buck 80 ass in it. Gutted Stock exhaust and BPS Mukuni carb kit. Worn down stock prop 11-3/4" ( I did heat it and added a little cup back to the tips) Speed now, lite boat 1 man 29-30 mph steady. rpms 4250 to bouncing off the rev. limiter. Not to impressive but I'm thinking the prop IS shot. Before putting it back on the trailor, I did a little trail busting long story short I ran out of trail and water. trail was only as wide as the boat, I decided to try and turn around rather than backing out 300 yards. Now heres where I felt the power. I pushed the bow up on the bank and had to let off the throttle before I beached to whole boat! It jumped up with no hesitation ( never happened before). Spun the boat/motor around in a pretty thick gumbo mud again no problem. which was also a first ( normally I would have had to pop the clutch and restarted the motor 5 times before getting around. I was very impressed. Motor sounded and ran smooth ( like if I had a GD 3 blade) plus, not one back fire! Today I called a friend that just got a new PD prop and asked if I could borrow it. Threw it on and headed to the launch. Lite boat 1 man. Hole shot was pretty good, Top speed was 29-30 and bouncing off the rev. limiter. same as the old prop to the "T". Threw another guy in the boat , ( Me 180# Friend 220#) speeds 29mph steady and bouncing off the rev.box. The norm with this load, with this boat was 25-26 mph at its best! I never could trim up to where I felt it should be. Over all I'm real happy and impressed with the purchase, it is well worth doing imo. I'll be giving hopkins a call for some more pitch when I get the cash. Donations welcome!

Re: Mikuni and gutted exhaust update
I've been running 4500 with shimmed springs and stock push rods for 80 hours. Silk told me to keep it about there and the stock connecting rods were the next weekest link, maybe thats changed now?
Recently put on the carb with 4570 Rev limiter chip. Got to get more prop so I can trim it up to the sweet spot.
