Post Front Battery Mount - issues
Rigging out a new hull - and want to mount twin batteries in front of boat
using about 20 feet of primary cable to 35 briggs...

Mfg - warns of 3 problems
1. short in system burning a hole in hull
2. length of cables causing a charging problem on 35 briggs
3. length of cable causing a starter problem on 35 briggs

Question - best type and gauge of cables and way to fuse or circuit break
the primary feed to the motor.... Not so worried about charging the second
battery with the motor as I can do that off generator at the camp or 110
in the driveway....

Mine are in the front 16' of cable with no problems. I used #2 S.O. cable (same stuff used for welding leads). The local boat shops here sell high amp circuit breakers

You should run a larger size wire to accomodate the longer run of wire.

X2. That's the breakers I was referring to. I went with #2 as the extra cost was minimal.

Do away with a battery and starter. 2 less things to break and leave you stranded. You should know that by now.

your going to want 4/2 AWG Duplex Fine Stranded, Ultra-Flexible, Tinned 105C Copper Boat Cable/Wire. there is a guy on ebay that sells this stuff by the foot for the best price on the net... it also comes joined togther with a protective sleeve to keep sharp edges from cutting into the cable and grounding out...
