 Oil Filter: TALL vs SHORT
I am doing an oil and filter change on my 25hp Kohler, and was looking for filters. The oil filter ID is 1205001S.
Fram and Purolator offer short and tall versions. Fram Short = PH8172 Purolator Short = L35310 Fram Tall = PH7575 Purolator Tall = L10241
My motor had originally a tall filter, but I could only get the Purolator Short. Is this OK? What's the advantages/disadvantages of a short filter vs a tall filter?
Thank you

Re: Oil Filter: TALL vs SHORT
I think tall filters would have more filter medium. The shorts are usually made to fit in applications where the filter might rub or have a tight fit. some might have a check valve so they can be used vert or upside down.

Re: Oil Filter: TALL vs SHORT
dont think so, everthing ive read says the larger the filter the less restiction because the smaller usually = less suface area. anti siphon and bypass play into it also. IMHO i would not run a fram. k&n,mobile one, wix, puralator one, in that order.
