 Replacement motor opinions needed
Howdy I have a 1998 GDLT with a 20 Briggs. I am needing some more power and I am thinking about swapping engines but wanted yalls thought. I am assuming these frames are large enough to put a bigger engine? I am leaning towards a 30-35 hp upgrade. It is pushing a GD 1644 with a normal load of around 500 lbs or so when hunting. I am getting about 13 mph now with what I have. What would be a good choice in engines for what I am wanting to do or is it worth the time and money with a long tail? I have never done an engine swap so I know nothing about what I am wanting to do. Thanks

It will take a good bit of modification to make a big block fit.
5 1/4" crank hieght vs 7 1/2"

 Re: Replacement motor opinions needed
Thanks for the info guys. I had a feeling after talking with a couple of guys this might be the case. The crank height did worry me and I did not even think about the shaft being too small. My best bet looks like just selling mine and getting a big block. Thanks to everyone except Mississippi JB!

 Replacement motor opinions needed
Also it would not be balanced. We were going to put a 27 on our 23 hp frame godevil said the motor wouldn't be balanced and awkward to run.
